Dream Boat Cards by Jo Piccirilli



Hi everyone! Couture Creations Designer Jo Piccirilli here today. I have been playing around with the 3-in-1 Dream Boat Collection that was released late last year. Today I have two cards to share.  Here's my first one using the Butterfly Notes 3-in-1 Set. Let me show you how I created this card.

Using a blending tool to mix your inks over the paper. Keep blending until the desired color is reached.

Next, ink up the stamp from the set and stamp onto the prepared paper.

Note: I stamped the image twice along the bottom and then trimmed the paper to better fit my card.



Using the embossing folder from the set, line up the stamped image inside the folder and run it through an embossing machine.

I used the stamps again on patterned paper and die-cut them out with the dies from the set to create layered embellishments. I used the Circle Nesting Dies to cut my sentiment block and added some Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue and Self-Adhesive Pearls to finish the card!

For my next card I decided to keep it very simple but I still think it is striking.

I used the Floral Wreath 3-in-1 Set from the Dream Boat Collection for this card.

Gently swipe across the paper to be stamped with an anti-static cloth. This really does help improve the quality of the embossing. Ink the stamp with Versamark ink and stamp onto white cardstock.

 Pour gold embossing powder over the stamped image.

Use a heat gun to melt the embossing powder.

Using the embossing folder from the set, line up the stamped image inside the folder and run it through an embossing machine.

I used the stamps again on patterned paper and die-cut them out with the dies from the set to create layered embellishments.

I also cut out a smaller flower with the smaller flower die and layered it on top of the larger flower, attaching it to the card with a pearl brad. Stamp a sentiment onto the front of the card, mat on black cardstock and attach to a white card base to finish.

You Will Always Be My Baby Girl by Jo Piccirilli

Hello! Couture Creations Designer Jo Piccirilli here today sharing a layout that I created with some NEW dies and embossing folders from Couture Creations.

First, is the amazing Look Into My Window Die from the Secret Treasures Collection.  This is great not only for your layouts but also makes the most stunning cards. Here is a close up of how I have used it on my page.

This is what the frame looks like after it has been run through your die cutting machine. By cutting off the bottom part and layering it with some Foam Mounting Tape I was able to create the windowsill. I then slid one side under my photo and popped my little girl embellishment behind the window. 

I cut two copies of the new Lotus Filet Doily Die (Madeline Collection) from patterned paper and tucked them under my layout. To add a little bit of extra interest I used the end of my doily to create a curtain effect on my window frame. I have also inked around the edges.

I have tucked under my photo a piece of cardstock embossed with one of the new embossing folders from the Harmony Collection - Project Journal Cards. This folder is FANTASTIC! Not only does it give you a place to journal, but the top part of the folder has dates and months of the year. 

Also in the Secret Treasures Collection are some awesome ornate shape dies. The one I have used here is the Ornate Rectangle Die. I love to cut these shapes in half and just tuck them under pieces of patterned paper to create a great layered effect. I have used this die at the top of the page to sit my banners and butterfly on and also just near the lacy doily die. This looks particularly good when using Core'dinations cardstock with a Sanding Block to show the border around the frame.

And finally, just to add a bit of extra interest and to create some more layers, I used my Circle Nesting Dies to cut a couple of circle frames to tuck under the patterned papers.

Baby Keepsake Exploding Box by Jo Piccirilli

Hi everyone! Jo Piccirilli here today to share with you a little off-the-page project using lots of Couture Creations goodness.

Recently, the lady across the road had her 4th baby girl, so instead of a traditional present, I thought I would make a keepsake. This is an exploding box. There are lots of tutorials on Youtube on how to make these.

On the lid I have used the Alcyone Doily Die from the Royal Jewels Collection and the Tranquility Die from the Endless Dreams Collection along with some paper flowers.

On the outside of my box I have used the lower half of the Petite Fleur Embossing Folder from the Romantique Collection.  This folder was fantastic to use as it has a line of embossed dots that gave me a guideline for placing my pearls.

The inside of my box reveals a cake made with my Circle Nesting Dies.  I also used these and my Scallop Circle Nesting Dies to make the photo mats. 

Here is a quick run down on how to make the cake.

I cut two circles with my Circle Nesting Dies. 

Then, I cut two long strips.  The width will depend on how tall you want your cake to stand. Then, score two lines approximately 1cm in from each end.

Once you have scored your lines, you will then need to cut little triangles out. Just cut up to the score line. This makes it much easier to get your paper to bend around the circles you have just cut.

You can now pop a small amount of glue onto the circle and start and wrap the snipped strip around.  When you get to the end just snip off the extra length. You can now place these circles in the middle of your box.

For the inside photo mats I have used the Large Damask Flourish Embossing Folder and the hearts from the Hearts Nesting Dies.

This was heaps of fun to make.  I hope I have inspired you to have a give a go at making your own exploding box. The designs are endless!
