Scalloped Paper Christmas Tree by Kerrie Gurney

Hi! Kerrie here today. With Christmas fast approaching I am in full decorating mode. I just love creating special little décor items for our home and also to give to friends. I made lots of these paper trees last year and this year a friend asked me to create one for her so I thought I would add a twist to my plain trees by using Couture Creations Scallop Square Nesting Dies to give this tree a cute edge.

Die-cut 12 of each of the 5 smaller sizes of the Scallop Square Nesting Dies from old book paper. I die-cut 6 sheets at a time, the paper is thin enough to cut through 6 sheets at a time.

Cut a piece of cardboard slightly smaller than the largest die-cut square and glue one sheet of die-cut book paper, this will be the base of the tree.

You will need a skewer and a peat pot or some type of pot for your base. Push the cardboard base onto the skewer and then hot glue the base to the pot.

Now, starting with the biggest size square, start layering the book paper squares onto the skewer. When layering the squares, leave a gap and rotate the squares to give the tree character.

Finish the tree by adding a poinsettia as a tree topper. Die-cut 2 small petals and one large petal using the Magical Christmas Decorative Die. Hold the petals together with a small brad.

Smoosh a bit of Red Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue onto the petals and pinch them to add life to the poinsettia.

TIP: Add Crystalina Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue to the edge of each layer to add some sparkle, or spray the whole tree with adhesive spray and sprinkle with glitter.

Happy Christmas Creating!

Sophia Die Week - Ferretti Floral Card with Patti Hamil

Hi! Patti here today sharing a simple card I created with one of the Couture Creations Sophia Premium Intricutz Dies. There are some awesome and very versatile dies in this collection! I used the Ferretti Die for this card.

I cut 3 different colors of cardstock with the Ferretti Die and attached them to the card base with  Foam Mounting Tape for dimension. I offset each colorful row of flowers just a little so that each color is visible. I used the Scallop Square Nesting Die to create the little bottom border. I used some Crystalina Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue on the top layer of the die-cut blooms. I added ribbon, a title sticker and some faux stitching to finish the card.

The dies in this collection are just perfect for cards. They are versatile and can be used on layouts and other types of projects as well. Whatever you are making I'm sure you can find something in the Sophia collection that will work for you!

Thanks for stopping by!

United We Stand Card by Cathi O'Neill

Hi! Cathi O'Neill here today with a patriotic card for CSW Distributors. I just love to use vintage images with my cards, and I paired one with my Couture Creations embossing folders, dies and pearls to make a red, white and blue Fourth of July card!

I started by using the Couture Creations Fresh and Fun Large Powder Puff Embossing Folder. The shapes reminded me of stylized fireworks and was the perfect backdrop for my image.

I used Scallop Square Nesting Dies, and put two together to make my rectangular shape, hiding the joint under the festive ribbon.

I cut a slit into the cardstock with my Couture Creations Craft Knife and threaded the ribbon through so it could lay flat.

To make my rolled flowers I used the smallest flower form the Couture Creations Daisy Nesting Die set and cut a spiral into each of them, rolling and securing the flower and adding a pearl in the center of the flowers.

I used the Endless Dreams Tranquility Decorative Die, which again reminded me of fireworks, to embellish the card.

To put the card together I used 18mm Double Sided Tape to attach the scallop squares to the embossed card base.

I attached the vintage image and sentiment with Couture Creations Foam Mounting Tape to add dimension. I love this foam tape so much, I don't have much left! I think I need to put in a request for more soon! I just love the dimension it gives to cards and layouts!

I tied the bow around the card, added the sentiment and glued the flowers and flourishes into place.
